Due to the higher cost of fuel we have been forced to make a small increase in our ticket prices. Tickets this year will be $36.00 per person with a special discounted price of $33.00 for our senior Friends 60 years and older and children 10 and under. All tickets are sold by advanced paid reservations only. Box lunches may be ordered with your tickets for an additional $7.00. As always, we will feature our very popular raffles with over $1500.00 worth of lighthouse memorabilia and other exciting prizes. Our 50-50 raffle will let one lucky winner go home with half the proceeds from that drawing. For more details on our Father's Day cruise, please check the enclosed order form. All proceeds from the cruise are used to fund our Christmas lighthouse flights. |

The Board of Trustees would like to take this opportunity to pass along a word of thanks to the Holiday Inn Express in Rockland, MA. For more than a year now, they have allowed us the use of their facilities for our monthly meetings. This has proved to be a convenient location for the majority of our board members and has allowed our meetings to be all the more productive. We thank them for their continued support |

On April 23, 2001 the United States Coast Guard bestowed the USCG Public Service Commendation Medal on one of our friends and supporters, Mr. Doug Bingham. The ceremony took place at USCG Group Woods Hole. Group Commander, Captain Russell Webster presented the award to Doug for his 11 years of public service as a volunteer in the restoration of many of our New England Lighthouses. Many of you know Doug as one of our lighthouse cruise narrators. He is also the Vice President of the American Lighthouse Foundation where he continues to make the public aware of the Coast Guard's role in preserving our treasured lighthouses. Doug also worked hard for six years as a volunteer helping to save the LV 612 - Nantucket Lightship. Congratulations to Doug from all of us at Friends of Flying Santa. |

For those of you anxiously awaiting the appearance of our website's 2000 Flying Santa photo gallery, we ask that you bear with us a little longer as we work out a few formatting problems. It turned into a bit more of a project than we had expected but we hope to have it up and running by the end of May. Having just about figured out all the bugs, we should be all the more ready when the time comes for displaying our 2001 photos. Thanks for being patient. |

Depending on location, it takes from one to three weeks for our newsletter mailing to reach its destination. This is due to the U.S. Post Office non-profit bulk mailing service that we use. We are in the process of exploring a faster, as well as more economical and environment-friendly option for those of you with e-mail access. If you think you might be interested in receiving a digital edition of our newsletter, please contact us with your preferred e-mail address. We can assure you that this address will be used for sending Friends of Flying Santa news and information only. It will not be provided to any outside sources. It is hoped that by the fall of this year we will have a program in place for transmitting our digital newsletter. This does not mean that we will be discontinuing our printed version. For those of you who prefer it, we will continue to send you our paper edition. |
